[00:00:30] As you may or may not know, co-ownership over a business is something that’s very new for both Sylvie and I. One of the biggest lessons that I’ve learned from Sylvie is trust. You know, when it’s your own baby and your own business, you are fully responsible of what’s going on, what needs to get done, if something falls through the cracks, et cetera.
[00:01:00] Also, you’re in full control of everything that you do. Over co-ownership, you have another entity and another person who’s bringing all kinds of ideas and their own experience and their own background to the table, and you have to trust no only that they can make the right decisions without you knowing anything about those things, and also trust that they’re going to be able to pick up the pieces should something happen on your end, and vice versa.
[00:01:30] It’s been so incredibly reassuring to learn that lesson of trust that you know what, I don’t know it all about this area, but she does and I trust that she does. It’s worked out extremely well for us.
[00:02:00] Awesome question and I’m going to answer it with the first email ever I sent to Shauna on Tuesday, August 6, 2013. Hello Shauna. Unfortunately we haven’t met so far, however I have to admit that I follow your activity since quite a time. Others might see us as competitors. I see you as a role model for myself and anyone within this industry. When I started my career as an image consultant, I have been quite surprised about the way this industry sometimes represents itself on the market. Your activities are such a pleasant change and I really hold you in high regard for what you do. I think your demand for high quality standards is best practice. You’re always up to date, and your own personal branding should be an example for many consultants in this sector. What I admire most though, is your passion, which comes through in everything you do.
[00:02:30] I think this email says a lot about the things I learned from her and I adore her for and in particular it’s passion for everything she does in her work, for her students, for this industry. Two weeks later, by the way, we sat on a plane towards Boston and met that weekend. This is how our story began.
