How do you get testimonials?

Shauna says... [00:00:30] Testimonials are so incredibly important for our business as you know. There are two situations and places that we get testimonials from. The first is actually within the consultation itself. We always have our eyes and our ears open to anything that is said, or any reactions that happen within the consult. [00:01:00] If we hear one line, really awesome statement about, "Oh my gosh I feel so amazing in this outfit you picked out." We'll ask right then and there, if we feel like we have good rapport, which we [...]

What tools do you use to create your videos?

Shauna says... [00:00:30] Right now, I'm just recording straight to my computer. I am working from a Mac, so this is just the camera that's built right in to the desktop here. I'm using a Blue Snowball microphone. On occasion, if I don't record with my laptop, I will use a little HD, just handheld camera. You can pick those up on Amazon.[00:01:00] Sylvie's got a great recommendation as well. Then I am using QuickTime currently to record, and then I will also use iMovie to record, and for sure iMovie to do editing, to [...]

What’s in your image consultant work bag?

Shauna says... [00:00:30] All right, in my workbag, you will find not a lot, but my laptop, a moleskin notebook with one pen, usually my favorite, until I lose it, lip gloss, business cards and Listerine strips, and of course my wallet and my iPhone. Sylvie says... [00:01:00] One minute for my workbag? This will never work out. In my workbag there is a MacBook Air for my presentations, a power cord and a second one as a backup, an iPad as a backup, my iPhone and a mouse, a [...]

What is the difference between working with men and women as an image consultant?

Shauna says... [00:00:30] There is definitely a difference between working with men and working with women. I think that you do have to be a little bit more careful and a little bit more sensitive when working with women. Of course, there are always outliers. Every client is different. [00:01:00]  Typically with women, we are a little bit more sensitive to having our body type analyzed, talking about our image, talking about our confidence, whereas men are pretty cut and dry. They really just want to be told. They want direct information. They want [...]

Did you ever consider writing an image consulting book?

Sylvie says... [00:00:30] Have you ever considered to write a book? That's a great question, but for some reason, I'm going to forward that question to this lady here. [on the market 00:01:22] That being said, I just can recommend you to think about a book and to consider writing a book because it adds so much credibility to you and to your brand. In fact to be very honest, a book is nothing you should see as an instrument or as a tool where you're going to make a lot of money with [...]

Did you ever work for free?

Shauna says... [00:00:30] Yes, I have definitely worked for free, and even nowadays depending on what the situation is, I still may work for free. [00:01:00] Bottom line is that you really understand what exactly your value is, and beyond that have confidence in your value that you bring to the table, and know if the free situation is going to be worth the value that you hope to get out of it. Now where that's worked out is a time where I worked eight hours for free all day long, and then booked [...]
